Banning Unified School District proudly recognized two exceptional students as November’s Students of the Month at a special breakfast held at Sizzlers in Banning. Honorees Mike Cuevas from Banning High School and Alejandro Villalpando from New Horizon High School were celebrated for their dedication to academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Students from the Beaumont Unified School District were also honored, reflecting a community-wide commitment to excellence.
“As long as you have a love for learning, nothing will stop you,” said Superintendent Terrence Davis. “Going above and beyond will take you further than anyone else.” His inspiring words resonated with the values of the Student of the Month program, which recognizes students who surpass expectations and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
Alejandro Villalpando: A Story of Resilience and Leadership
New Horizon High School student Alejandro Villalpando has faced significant challenges in life, emerging as a leader within his school. He recently led New Horizon’s haunted house committee, demonstrating his strong work ethic, creativity, and positive attitude. Alejandro views his commitment to going above and beyond as his greatest contribution to his community. Aspiring to join an electrical trade union to become a master electrician, Alejandro is determined to achieve his goals and inspire others.
Mike Cuevas: Exemplifying Bronco Pride and Community Spirit
Banning High School’s Mike Cuevas is recognized for his respect, intelligence, and dedication to the community. He actively contributes to local events, such as organizing car and motorcycle meets and ensuring the campus remains clean. Mike’s future plans include studying psychology and philosophy online, launching his own photography business, and joining the sheriff’s department. He aims to return to Banning to share his story with future high school students, inspiring them to achieve their potential.
